WHO estimates that there are only 10-15% of manpower who have access to a basic standard of the occupational health services. There can be numerous occupational health hazards such as atmospheric contaminants, chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards, etc. in the workplace environment.
The human resource department has to install and improve workplace safety and health for workers by reducing hazards and exposures in the workplace environment which result in occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. The department is also responsible for increasing worker awareness of, commitment to, and involvement in the workplace safety, security, and health.
